Researcher Hyun-Seob Song and his colleague, Purdue University’s Doraiswami Ramkrishna, authored a just-released book detailing a computational method that incorporates metabolic regulation into microbial modeling to predict molecular and phenotypic changes.

Beyond a fundamental understanding of metabolism, the method, called the cybernetic modeling approach, allows researchers to harness microbes for bioenergy and biomaterial production.

“This book is an invaluable resource for bio-reaction engineers and synthetic biologists,” said Song.
